Jesus on His death and resurrection

Here is a list of passages in the four Gospels where Jesus explicitly foretold His death and resurrection:



Matthew

Matthew 16:21 – Jesus begins to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, suffer, be killed, and be raised the third day.

Matthew 17:22-23 – Jesus tells His disciples He will be betrayed, killed, and raised on the third day.

Matthew 20:18-19 – Jesus, on the way to Jerusalem, predicts His betrayal, condemnation, mockery, crucifixion, and resurrection on the third day.

Matthew 26:32 – Jesus says, "But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."

Matthew 27:63 – The chief priests and Pharisees recall that Jesus said, "After three days I will rise again."

Mark

Mark 8:31 – Jesus teaches that the Son of Man must suffer, be rejected, killed, and after three days rise again.

Mark 9:31 – Jesus says He will be delivered into the hands of men, killed, and after three days rise.

Mark 10:33-34 – Jesus details His upcoming betrayal, condemnation, mockery, scourging, killing, and resurrection after three days.

Mark 14:28 – Jesus tells His disciples, "But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."

Luke

Luke 9:22 – Jesus says the Son of Man must suffer, be rejected, killed, and be raised the third day.

Luke 9:44-45 – Jesus tells His disciples He will be delivered into the hands of men (implied death and resurrection).

Luke 18:31-33 – Jesus predicts His betrayal, mockery, mistreatment, killing, and resurrection on the third day.

Luke 24:6-7 – After the resurrection, the angels remind the women that Jesus said He would be delivered, crucified, and rise again on the third day.

John

John 2:19-22 – Jesus says, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up," referring to His body and resurrection.

John 10:17-18 – Jesus speaks of laying down His life and taking it up again (implied resurrection).

John 11:25-26 – Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life," though this is more a declaration than a prediction of His own resurrection.1




These passages collectively show that Jesus repeatedly and clearly spoke of His upcoming death and resurrection throughout His ministry, as recorded in all four Gospels.
